Working with artists is what we love most
Maurice Sanchez has been making prints for artists since 1965. After attending the University New Mexico, he was offered a Tamarind Fellowship. In 1968, he obtained an BFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute while also working for Collector’s Press in San Francisco with Ernest De Soto. After two years teaching at the Vancouver School of Art, he had the opportunity to work for Petersburg Press as a full-time printer for James Rosenquist. After four years of working exclusively with Rosenquist, Sanchez opened his own shop in New York City: Derriere L’Etoile Studios.
Since 1978, Maurice Sanchez has worked with many great artists including Jennifer Bartlett, Louise Bourgeois, Claudio Bravo, Anne Chu, Donald Judd, Alex Katz, Jeff Koons, Robert Longo, Bjarne Melgaard, Robert Motherwell, Elizabeth Murray, Claes Oldenburg, A. R. Penck, Elizabeth Peyton, Josh Smith (pictured), Susan Rothenberg, Joel Shapiro, Robert Mapplethorpe, Leon Golub, Eric Fischl, Joan Snyder, Keith Haring, Robert Gober, Sarah Sze, Gunther Forg, Barbara Kruger, Sherrie Levine, Raymond Pettibon, Richard Tuttle, Rita Ackermann, Luc Tuymans, Chris Ofili, Louise Nevelson, Vito Acconci, Charlene Von Heyl, Christopher Wool, and too many others to name.
